Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

Sacred Music

Insanae et Vanae Curae – Franz Joseph Haydn:

Insanae et vanae curae invadunt mentes nostras,
saepe furore replent corda, privata spe,
Quid prodest O mortalis conari pro mundanis,
si coelos negligas,
Sunt fausta tibi cuncta, si Deus est pro te.

Vain and raging cares invade our minds,
Madness often fills the heart, robbed of hope,
O mortal man, what does it profit to endeavour at worldly things,
if you should neglect the heavens?
If God is for you, all things are favorable for you.

Ave Maria – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Assumpta est Maria in Caelum – Giovanni Pierluigi Palestrina

Assumpta est Maria in coelum, gaudent angeli,
laudantes benedicunt Dominum.

Maria virgo assumpta est ad aethereum thalamum,
in quo Rex regum stellato sedet solio.

Mary is assumed into Heaven; the angels rejoice and praising bless the Lord.

Mary the Virgin is taken up into the heavenly chamber, in which the King of kings sits upon His starry throne.
