Flavors, foods and cosmetics containing aborted materials?

Aborted Babies In Pepsi, Kraft, And Nestle – Shocking Report | Genuine Christianity Now

The report referred to in the link above appeared in October 2019; i.e. just before covid-19 entered the world stage. The report seems to have then been lost in media frenzy of lockdown, masks, and isolation from support or political action networks.  It was a most timely release of information under the radar!

The surprise is how many well-known products are alleged to be compromised according to these 2019 lists. What  is a consumer to do? Is it a sin to consume products with such allegations? To consume  any products without verification that they are ‘clean’ of aborted materials? When approached by a penitent wanting to confess the very real possibility that he or she may have ingested aborted remains or used them cosmetically or medically, either because of lack of information or because the penitent has done insufficient research to assess the truth, or that the truth is unknowable, the routine pastoral response may be to waive any responsibility on the part of the penitent.  But is such repeated dismissal a willful ignorance? or not? Should consumers be demanding an ethical labeling of products which represent they  use no body parts or abortion technology?  Shouldn’t that same law codify serious penalties for misrepresentation?

Not so strange a concern?

In June 2012, a U.S. election year, there was a two week effort by the USCCB to focus on pro-life issues. Locally, there was a program held at the Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua with a wide range of invited speakers, called “Festival for Freedom.” I remember, as part of the background and preparation work, reading (for the first time) that China was providing capsulized protein supplements containing abortion matter. Somehow, it no long seems as unbelievable as it did in 2012! As a people, we seem to find such dire possibility unthinkable, until it arrives on our front doorstep, with a note in its mouth! Yet, notice a thread which holds together strategies of contraception, abortion, euthanasia, plague and war, and even Bill Gates becoming the largest farmland holder in the U.S. At some level, isn’t the culture of death impelled by fear of starvation, and lack of knowing and trusting a loving God? We don’t pray “Give us this day our annual bread ….”

Warning:

The list from the October 2019 article is attached; click to continue but, beware, it is hard to “not know” after having read through the list. There are denial references too to consider. For those tired of being phoo-phooed by their confessor on these matters, why not bring a copy of the whole article (from the link) to confession and leave it for the confessor to consider? It isn’t enough to merely say “Well, I’ll just avoid the food from, say, China.” No, indeed. China just bought Hellmann’s Mayo.

The article states: “The following list outlines processed “food” products, vaccines and “beauty products” known to contain ingredients derived from aborted human babies (and there are likely many more; your best bet is to avoid all processed foods in general):”
