First Saturday Marian Masses in the Extraordinary (Latin) Form

September 5th, 2019, Promulgated by Diane Harris

While the Traditional Latin Mass remains in scarce supply, we will try to bring attention to new opportunities. And, so, we just learned about a First Saturday Latin Mass this month in St. Peter’s Parish to be offered by the Pastor, Father Peter Van Lieshout, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Phelps, NY, on Saturday, September 7th at 10AM.

A Marian Mass will be particularly suitable this year, as Sunday, September 8th, is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; but, because the Feast occurs this year on a Sunday, the current calendar (Novus Ordo) calls for the Mass for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

It is wonderful to hear of new opportunities to attend the Latin Mass, especially on a Saturday when morning Masses are particularly scarce. (Note: Father Peter Mottola, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Spencerport, does continue to offer a Latin Mass each First Saturday at 9AM.)

One Response to “First Saturday Marian Masses in the Extraordinary (Latin) Form”

  1. Hopefull says:

I also heard that Fr. Amato offered a First Saturday Latin Mass at St.Jerome’s at 8:00 AM. That means there was First Saturday Latin Mass offered at 8:00(East Rochester) and at 9:00 (Spencerport) and 10:00 (Phelps). Praise the Lord! This was an extraordinary event (well, literally too.) Thank you, dear priests, for your care of souls.
