In a shocker news release, Israel has announced it will try Pope Francis before the Sanhedrin on September 20th for meddling in the affairs of Israel, if he does not retract some specific language attributed to him. Stay tuned for more, and see what you think:

I find this prospect very scary. I don’t want to be on the opposite side from the Pope, but I also believe that in the Bible God does clearly give the land to the Jews, and I also believe that God said something like “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.” So I do strongly support Israel, but am very concerned about such a trial and further damage to Jewish-Catholic relations.
What are the consequences should Pope Francis be found guilty?
I am very concerned, too, but mostly about Pope Francis lacking perspicaciousness as he seems to randomly send out blasts of all kinds. One never knows what he might say to a journalist on any subject! I do wish he would not speak to every microphone and camera he sees and never ever speak off the cuff. The results have wrought confusion, at least for me. And I, too, wonder what will be the consequences of this latest fallout from the politics of our pope. +JMJ
I also strongly support Israel. The land belongs to the Jews. The Palestinians are interlopers. “Israel became a nation in 1312 B.C.E./B.C., two thousand years before the rise of Islam.”-Free Republic, 12/5/2001.
As militia has stated, I also believe the Bible states Israel was given to the Jews and I stand with Israel and the Jewish people.
In Genesis, (Gen 17.8, Gen 26:2-5, Gen 28: 1-4, 13-14) it clearly states that God gave the land to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob. The Bible teaches the Abraham Covenant is an everlasting covenant which cannot be broken, which is still in effect. (Gen 17.7, Chronicles 16:17-18, Psalm 105:8-11, Romans 9:4).
“From 70 A.D. to 1948 the geographical area known as Palestine was never an independent state nor did the Arabs residing there have any consciousness of themselves as a separate nation of people. They regarded themselves as Syrians. Also, keep in mind that Jerusalem has never served as the capital of any Arab nation, whereas it has been considered the capital of the Jewish people since 1,000 B.C.”
“Also noteworthy is the fact that when the West Bank and Gaza were under Jordanian autonomy from 1948 to 1967, there was not any effort to create a separate Palestinian state. The PLO was formed during that time, not for the purpose of creating a Palestinian State, but rather for the purpose of exterminating the Jewish state.”
“Equally important is the fact that a Palestinian state already exists — and it is four times larger than Israel! The Palestinian state is Jordan. In the Balfour Declaration of 1917, the British originally promised all the Palestinian Mandate to the Jews as a national homeland. But in 1922 they broke that promise by using 77% of the Mandate to create the Arab state of Jordan. Today that state’s population is 75% Palestinian.”
The land of Israel was never referred to Palestine until after the second Jewish revolt in 132 -135 A.D. “At that time the Romans dubbed it “Palestine” to erase the memory of its Jewish heritage and to insult the Jews, for Palestine is the Latin word for Philistine, the ancient enemy of Israel.”
-Dr. David R. Reagan, “The Land of Israel,”Lamplighter” magazine, via “Lamb and Lion Ministries” website.
Prior to the Pope’s Declaration of the State of “Palestine,” he had been in negotiations with the State of Israel to be given a seat at the Tomb of David, (and Solomon), which is also the site of the Last Supper. In 2013, Pope Francis was granted a special seat in the room where the Last Supper took place and was given special authority over the second floor.
The Pope shouldn’t be surprised that he is being asked to stand before the Sanhedrin in Israel.
The State of Israel has been very gracious to Pope Francis and worked to make a compromise regarding a Holy Site.
I think Pope Francis is damaging Jewish-Catholic relations.
I was very disappointed in the Pope when he declared the State of “Palestine.” The Jewish people and the Jewish faith is our heritage as Christians.
Our Lord and Savior was a Jew. I feel like Pope Francis has given Jews and Christians alike, a slap in the face when he declared the State of “Palestine.”
