I heard about Fr. Nelson Baker in connection with Our Lady of Victory Basilica and charities when I was young. He was noted to be a very humble, and holy man who accomplished much to help those who experienced misfortune and need.
Currently, Fr. Nelson Baker is listed as Venerable.
His life is quite interesting and inspiring.
I believe that you are correct. Cause is active. By the way, he was made a domestic prelate at some point in his life as the Buffalo diocese rewarded him for what was also known as “Father Baker’s”. I also believe that numerous adoptions were afforded the faithful here in Rochester.
Years ago my grandmother (from the Buffalo diocese and a personal friend of Father Baker) use to threaten me that she would send me to “Father Baker’s” if I didn’t stop acting like such a mischievous scamp. I actually believe she would have done it. She was never one to brook any opposition. A good memory.
Choir,
I had some friends in from Buffalo yesterday and they do remember the “threat” very well. In Rochester, it used to be “St. Joseph’s Villa”!
ROBERT – You are correct. Fr. Baker is also referred to as Msgr. Baker.
