Lessons and Carols for Epiphany on January 6th

December 30th, 2013, Promulgated by Bernie

Coming up at Saint Alban’s  is a “Festival of Lessons and Carols”, 6:30 P.M. Monday January 6, so we can continue the celebration of the Christmas Season which, remember, extends until the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, January 24 this year. (Keep that crèche and tree up –and the Christmas carols playing!)

Saint Alban is the local Roman Catholic Fellowship of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. The Fellowship celebrates Holy Mass, according to the approved Anglican Use Rite, every Sunday at 3 P.M. in The Church of the Good Shepherd in Henrietta (the old church that faces East Henrietta Road, Rt. 15A –3318 East Henrietta Road).

This candle light service will feature traditional carols for Christmastide and Epiphany and motets by Mouton and Palestrina. The organist will be Aaron James. Refreshments following the service.

For those of us following the Tridentine Calendar, The Baptism of The Lord is on January 13th.

I am more traditional and I appreciate the fact that the Fellowship of St. Alban had this special carol service for Epiphany on January 6th, 2014. I did not know far enough in advance and was not able to attend. I hope they will have it this upcoming Epiphany also, (January 6th, 2015 is a Tuesday), as there are those of us who would still like a venue to celebrate Epiphany on January 6th.
