USCCB: HHS Proposal Falls Short In Meeting Church Concerns; Bishops Look Forward To Addressing Issues With Administration

D&C blogs: Religious Freedoms Tromped on Again Post by Janice O’Rourke.
I was very happy to see this article. Although, I’ll disagree with O’Rourke’s assertion that this is the Obama administrations “knee jerk reaction”. I happen to think Obama is leading a very concerted effort to minimize the influence of the Catholic Church.

Think you’re pretty holy because you’re not one of those worldly people? You can even quote some Church documents? Oh, and the suffering you’ve been through for your orthodox Catholic faith – that must be an automatic ticket to heaven, right? Not so fast, my friend.

Ben — your weekly updates are an excellent way to keep us from missing the important happenings. Thanks! I was pleased to read in Life Site News last evening that North Dakota is very close to being the first state to have a Personhood Amendment. See:

Well I skimmed the Catholic Courier this week. I usually use it to line the birdcage, but my bird died last month, so, it was just sitting there. I read about a speaker promoting Catechesis and New Evangelism. But like pretty much everything I ever read in the Courier, it sounded like a lot of frothy words saying nothing. Apparently the NYS Bishops have gotten together and created a document on it, and this speaker was sharing that. But nothing inspired me – in a topic that could/should be inspiring. I wonder if anyone else read it, and maybe I am missing something?

Oh, and I couldn’t read the finances article. Just couldn’t stomach that.

Ben, what did I find interesting this week? I think Friday’s snowstorm humbly reminds us that God is still in control.
