An interesting article from the D&C:
Priest with local ties now counseling grieving parents in Newtown, Conn.
|The Catholic priest whose job it has been to comfort the parents of children killed in the Newtown, Conn., tragedy was a graduate of St. John Fisher College and was ordained in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester.
Monsignor Robert Weiss, who has been at the center of the team working to help residents of Newtown handle the grief of Friday’s killings, graduated from St. Bernard’s Seminary School in 1968 (then on Lake Avenue), graduated from St. John Fisher in 1972 and was ordained a priest here in May, 1973.
The article is incorrect: Msgr. Bob Weiss graduated from St. John Fisher College in 1968, from St. Bernard’s in 1972 and ordained priest in 1973. Some years later he was incardinated in the Bridgeport Diocese. He is a credit to the priesthood.
Furthermore, the ignorant “journalist” who wrote the report in the paper referred to the seminary as “St. Bernard’s Seminary School”, whereas the correct name is “St. Bernard’s Seminary”. Give that guy an “F” in his journalism course.
