Fr Z posted the text of a speech by the Holy Father to a group of US bishops on their ad limina visits. I won’t repost it here – instead just click the above link. This video is interesting only to see Bishop Clark listening intently as well as Bishop Hubbard taking notes. Pray for all of our bishops.

The above is a link to tonight’s LifeSite News article entitled: “How the Pope corrects wayward bishops covertly yet publicly on moral issues – Analysis” by John Henry Westin. The thesis is that there is more correction, some right out in the open, than we recognize. How this applies in ROC is unclear; maybe there is more than we see, but it doesn’t seem proportionate to the need.
Dear Hopeful:
Sometimes when a bishop is way off base, he will be quietly relieved of the administrative component of his diocese by the Vatican. He continues to say Mass, confirm, and write non-controversial articles and letters but the real administration is delegated to another. So the case is often reduced to who is really and substantially running the diocese.
There are also other factors such as who has the bishop’s ear.If you recall, Pius XII had the head of his household, a nun, advising him on a lot of the operations in the Vatican. She was playfully (?) referred to as La Popessa by most of the Vatican curia. Shortly after the pope died, she was hustled back to Germany.
I looked again at the video as presented here. Are those flames coming out of the floor in front of the bishops??
