I have to admit that it is a challenge to kneel without a communion rail.
However, the last three times I received the body and blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, I kneeled.
If and when the time comes I can’t get down and up without help, I will continue to “kneel” my heart before our Lord and our God.
“According to a story that comes from the Desert Fathers, Satan was compelled by God to show himself to a certain Abba Apollo. Satan appeared black and ugly, with frighteningly thin limbs, but most strikingly, he had no knees. This image of Satan reflects his character and personality. Another image of Satan, however, is as the morning star or light-bringer, which is reflected in the name Lucifer. Even with the image of Lucifer, the most beautiful and strongest of all the angels, it is still fitting that he have no knees.” This is a quote I find interesting in this context. It does not surprise me that Satan would not want us to kneel before Christ when we receive Him. I pray that the norms of Holy Communion on the tongue while kneeling will return soon.
Well, this is fantastic to hear. I kneel at about half the Masses I go to, mostly because the other half, I know I’m just going to receive a lecture on how I shouldn’t. That bothered me to say the least when I first got lectured at, priest told me “It’s not the norm and you shouldn’t do it unless you are either at a Missal of 1962 Mass or at a parish where everyone does it.” Well, this is great news and once it is fully implemented, I will probably start kneeling at all the Masses I go to.
I had not realized that it had changed in 2010. Excellent.
The fact that people had a PROBLEM with us putting ourselves in a “servile” or “lowly” position bothers me… a lot.

Maybe somebody should tell St. Lawrence in Greece about this change in the GIRM.
