St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption
Covington, Kentucky
A very beautiful Basilica, containing one of the largest church stained glass windows in the world. In fact this Basilica is a profusion of beautiful stained glass. A beautifully illustrated book is available to explain the symbolism of many of the windows.

If you’re in the Cincinnati area, or traveling through on 71 or 75 South, a stop at this magnificent Church is quite worthwhile. I’ve been there and it is marvelous.
It is important to note, however, that the site of the Eucharistic Chapel, while in accordance with Church norms (a place of honor, easily accessible for private adoration), is not readily apparent when one walks into the Cathedral. Some who post on these pages would not be pleased with that.
I must admit that I’m not too fond of having to go “looking for Jesus” in a new-to-me church either.
Still, this magnificent structure is a pleasant surprise in a fairly shoddy downtown Covington (although who are we in the DoR to be calling other cities shoddy?!).
WOW! That panoramic view was fantastic! What a beautiful church.
