Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of the 2011 Lenten season. Catholics are bound by certain regulations during Lent. Here is a quick refresher:
Abstinence: On Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent, Catholics 14 years and older are required to abstain from meat.
“Fast”: On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, all Catholics 18-59 are required to “fast.” This means that one may eat a full meal and two smaller meals, but nothing in between.
Let us remember the sacrifices of our Lord during this Lenten season and make some of our own in honor of Him.
