The following is from Irene Goodwin, “pastoral administrator” of St. Mary of the Assumption in Scottsville. In this piece, Ms. Goodwin invites her congregation to attend an ecumenical service that begins an hour after their Sunday Mass is scheduled to start:
I can just picture Ms. Goodwin pointing to her watch should Father’s sermon run too long. That is, if the priest preaches at all. Come on people, enough with all these interfaith services. These services are not helping to bring people into the Catholic Church, but rather are encouraging the “one religion is no better than the other” idea among the laypeople. Cut out the coexist crap and remember that we are the one true faith.
