Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

Fr. Barron And Fr. Rosica on the Theological Renewal

July 13th, 2010, Promulgated by Gen

A wonderful video with a Rochester connection. Fr. Barron has a conversation with Fr. Tom Rosica, a Basilian in charge of the Canadian equivalent of EWTN. His sister, however, is a local Sister of Mercy who teaches at Seton Catholic School in Brighton. As one friend tells me, “She’s one of the only RSM’s (Sisters of Mercy) left who actually puts God and the Church first, then self second.” God bless the shining examples of zeal for the Catholic Church, Fr.’s Barron and Rosica, and Sr. Carolyn Rosica, RSM.

Wonderful Gen! Thanks for sharing! The Basilian order has a rich and holy tradition and has been such a blessing to Rochester for so many years. It is great to see Fr. Rosica promoting the faith in such a powerful way. It is so hopeful to see such young good priests as Fr. Glenn McDonald, CSB and Fr. Morgan Rice, CSB breathing new life into this order and our local Church.

  2. Fr. Rosica’s feisty and yet patient mother taught me three years of French at Aquinas in the 80s. (And goodness knows I tried her patience.) I recall him visiting our class as a newly ordained priest. My, how time flies.

Fr. Rosica’s sister taught one of my children at Seton Catholic School. I wish we could say great things about her, but when a Sister of any order votes for a Democratic President, I wouldn’t say she’s putting God and the Church first. The fifth commandment states “Thou Shalt Not Kill”.

  4. Gen says:

Let me rephrase – unlike other nuns, she’s not putting God *last*. I wasn’t aware of her political leanings, but I do know she has made several young men consider seriously vocations to the priesthood.

Obviously, when one chooses to praise another human being, any human being, there is always the risk that one doesn’t know the full story, or that that the human, in his own concupiscence and error, is going to disappoint. Both now seem to be apparent about Fr. Rosica. The reader is directed to ‘search’ for Rosica on this blogsite, in order to find the plagiarism stories of 2019.
