Thanks so much Ben for posting the audio file!
AB Dolan’s homily was one of the best I have ever heard.
I am so glad that I will be able to share it with some friends who missed the Mass yesterday.
On a personal note, had the chance to have private introduction and brief chat with the Archbishop, he is a delightful man, very sweet and funny! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful shepherd for NY!

  3. John F. Kennedy says:

I’m not too sure about Dolan. Have you read this article? http://pewsitter.com/view_news_id_35543.php

“June 23, 2010 – St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is listed as a participant in the Gay Pride March to be held this weekend in New York City, according to documents available from the NYC Pride website. The parish’s ongoing participation is in direct contravention of Archbishop Dolan’s written request. ”

“Last weekend, on June 19, Archbishop Dolan was the celebrant at the rededication Mass of St. Francis Xavier in which a ten year renovation project was concluded. Cardinal Egan was also present. Archbishop Dolan welcomed all the parish organizations at the end of the Mass including the lesbian, gay, and transgendered group members, and those wearing rainbow ribbons.”

I HAD thought he had was a strong Bishop and a faithful son of the Church, but now I’m not so sure. I want to see how this story ends before I heap praise his way again.

    Don’t forget the cheesehead incident.

Yea, there are a few things to be concerned about for sure. He is better than a lot of bishops that we have, but he’s not the best.

Perhaps it is the case that he is good at talking the talk but not walking the walk? We will have to see how he deals with this dissent in his diocese.

In this press conference, Bishop Dolan seems to validate the role of the laity that Bishop Clark has enacted in this diocese.

    paraphrasing:
“Lay people are taking over roles which have been traditionally assigned to priests. This diocese is especially noted for that and I congratulate them”

    hmmmmm

  7. Dr. K says:

I’m curious what his policies are in NYC. Does he take the Clark approach with regard to extraordinary lay participation?

  8. benanderson says:

I hope to find out his position eventually. I sent him Clark’s book about 4 months ago. A few weeks later I got a form letter saying something like, “I received your letter and will respond sometime in the future”.

  9. Nerina says:

    Thanks, Christopher!
