Fr. Augustine Chumo receives a new assignment:
In related news, I think I have a guess at who might be assigned to serve as parochial vicar of the Gates cluster. I believe that Fr. Hoan Dinh, currently serving at St. Rita in Webster during his three year training period after ordination, will be assigned to the Gates cluster. Why? Well, he seems like a perfect fit given that St. Helen is home to the DoR’s Vietnamese community. Fr. Dinh was born in Vietnam, and lived there until moving to the United States in 1992. He likely is fluent in Vietnamese.
More pastoral assignments should be made official in the coming week. Stay tuned.

Likely? He grew up there!
It's been 18 years since he lived there. Good chance he may be rusty with the language. Still, that seems like a perfect fit for him. I hope you're right!
It may be 18 years since he's left Vietnam, but I happen to know him personally and know he speaks the language almost daily. He is well connected to Vietnamese friends and families here.
Plus, I don't think one loses one's native language that easily.
Just announced today that Fr Hewes of St Joseph's in Rush is being reassigned to a parish in Gates.
