Sex Abuse Resignations

April 23rd, 2010, Promulgated by Dr. K

A couple of prelates have resigned their posts as a result of the sexual abuse scandal. Yesterday, Bishop James Moriarty, leader of an Irish diocese, stepped down because of his poor response to sexual abuse allegations. Today, Bishop Roger Joseph Vangheluwe of Belgium stepped down after admitting to sexually abusing minors while a priest and as a bishop.

Hopefully more priests and bishops who have committed the sin of sexual abuse will do the right thing and step down. Our Church needs to be clean of the stain of this terrible sin.
