Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

Fr. Spilly on the Pope

April 21st, 2010, Promulgated by Dr. K

More “wisdom” from Fr. William Spilly, pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Hamlin:

“We should reserve judgment on the situation of possible cover-up on the part of then Cardinal Ratzinger and now Pope Benedict. I hope he explains his actions as soon as possible [He already has, Father]. Any type of cover-up in these matters will not help him or the universal church [Who says there is cover-up?]. Any delay in explaining what happened in Germany as Archbishop hurts the church and all members of the church [Again, he has already done this!]. Please continue to pray for all victims of sexual abuse and for the Pope and other bishops to come clean with what occurred [Fr. Spilly began his little piece of wisdom with “we should reserve judgment”, but he concludes with this. To pray that the pope will “come clean” suggests that one has already made up their mind that the pope is guilty].”

Not a big fan of Papa Benedict, I would guess.

I don't know what his intention might have been in writing this, but I agree, it certainly looks like he has made up his mind about Pope Benedict. And it's not good.

Here's an article posted today via the Station of the Cross facebook:

I dunno why though cause if you read into the comments you'll find every Church hater in there has to get a piece.

Interesting site though in one of the comments:

Which you can use lest anyone tell you we need married or female priests and this will end.

It's really such a weak argument made by progressives. Saying that to fight sex abuse we need women priests is like saying that only men are pedophiles. It's not true.

Here's another good comment amongst the hatred…

It is absolutely correct that the problem is general.

This is precisely why the Church should be an example to all, on how to be fully accountable for failings, and on how to implement robust measures to protect children. And yes, it should advocate for all children, before and after birth. Again, fasting and prayers, so that the Holy Spirit helps us that with Love, Truth and humility!

That NY post article poll results is hard to believe. Consider we are talking about only within New York City schools, specifically sexual abuse (does not include general physical abuse), and 33% are repeat offenders. Sheesh!

    Dr. K,

Is Gen giving you "hazard pay" for bulletin duty?

Fr. Spilly is certainly not helping with this blurb and seems to be fostering doubt in the minds of his parishioners. "Come clean," indeed.

    Lest we forget.

One of Fr. Spilly's best friends is Jim Callan. So there is a automatic bias against Pope Benedict because of that situation.
