Try not to talk to your parishioners like this after attempting to shut down their parish:
“There are many things that put stress on our relations with God and each other that cause us to sin. Personal feelings of anger and resentment, jealousy, family crises and difficulties, even the Irondequoit Pastoral Planning process may have created or deepened divisions among us. In all of these situations we probably have said and done things for which we are sorry. Now, before we enter in the celebrations of Holy Week, is the time for us to be reconciled.
In Him?
Norm Tanck, CSB”
Is he basically saying that the people of St. Thomas should go to confession because of their reaction to Fr. Tanck closing their parish? It sure sounds like it.
I hope he plans on doing the same.

At least the parishioners don't have to deal with Father Paul Tomasso, infamously known as "Father Death", for closing of Holy Family, St. Anthony and Saint Francis of Assisi parishes in the City of Rochester.
He showed no mercy to the parishioners who knew better and opposed the closing of the 3 parishes.
Father Tomasso was also Bishop Clark's former "priest secretary", I could never figure that title out.
Fr. Tomasso is not the only priest to close multiple parishes, so let's not single him out. I'm not sure that these closures were even up to him. He probably was told he needed to consolidate parishes. Sure, he could have turned it down and asked to be reassigned, but someone ultimately would need to deal with the small attendance at St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony.
Holy Family could easily have remained open at least a little longer. It's still empty today, and still listed on the parish bulletin.

How can we confess about how he shafted us when Fr. Tanck cancels confessions?
