Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

St. Bridget’s Closing Mass: February 14th

February 3rd, 2010, Promulgated by Dr. K

St. Bridget’s church, who announced plans to close their Mark Street church building roughly a month ago, is going to have their final Mass at that site in eleven days. According to the Catholic Courier e-edition, the final Mass at St. Bridget’s (formerly St. Theresa’s worship site) will be held on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14th at 11 AM. The following week the congregation will move into Immaculate Conception’s church building, and worship with that community.

St. Bridget has long been a part of the Diocese of Rochester’s black ministry. Their attendance has always been fairly low, but towards the end of 2009, their numbers fell dramatically down into the 30s. It became clear that the church could no longer continue on its own, even with the occasional help from wealthy suburban parishes. St. Bridget moved from their St. Bridget’s Drive church building back in 1997, which is now owned and operated by Rochester Christian Church Ministry in Gates as a religious-themed performing arts center.

Best of luck to the good people of St. Bridget. Do not give up hope, or your ministries to Rochester’s poor.
