Catholic School Tuitions to Increase

February 5th, 2010, Promulgated by Dr. K

The Democrat & Chronicle reported today that tuition will increase for the Catholic elementary schools in the Monroe County Catholic School System. According to the article, there will be an 8% increase for city and western suburb schools to $3,200. For eastern suburban schools, the tuition increase will be 12%, up to $3,300. These costs will be even higher for students not sponsored by a parish.

Schools that are independent parish schools, such as at St. Joseph in Penfield, will decide their own tuition rates.

I think the figure is incorrect for the East Side. At St. Rita's and St. Joe's the tuition is 3,300.00. I think you posted the non-parish sponsored rate for the Eastside.
Of course, in the case of St. Joe's we won't have the multiple child discount if we have one at St. Joe's and one at Siena.
Also, I heard one mother talking at the Open House last week that she is losing the discount she received at St. Joe's for working in another MCCS school now that they aren't part of the MCCS. She said between the 2 changes she will be paying over $3,000.00 more for her children next year (one at St. Joe's and one at Siena).

Thanks for catching the mistake, it's fixed now.
