Where Have All the Altar Boys Gone?

November 30th, 2009, Promulgated by Dr. K

From an article in the latest e-edition of the Catholic Courier:

Vona, meanwhile, observed another evolution — the addition of females in a role that was formerly performed by males only.

We don’t have any altar boys (at St. Catherine of Siena),” he said. “They’re all altar girls, and they’re fairly young.””

To that I would ask: How many priests have come out of St. Catherine of Sienna in Addison?

I thought that girls are not to wear the cassock/surplice? No wonder Rochester is home of the female priestess wannabes. Maranatha!

I just found the image on Google, it's not Rochester. Very very few parishes here have their servers wear cassocks.

Exactly, Dr. K. I don't know of any suburban parishes using the cassock/suplice (too pre-Vatican II).

They are all standing in line at St. Stan. waiting for the honorable turn to serve. They do a marvelous job by the way.

In fact when Father Lawrence was at St. Stan. One of them stood in place (like a guard) through the entire homily never even flinching. Infact never moved his eye balls. How did he do that? Being rather new to the faith it was rather moving to me. I guess when you are at the right place, in body and spirit you can do anything.

OK, this picture makes me very sad. It is indeed an injustice to allow a girl to serve. Why would we train a girl for a role she is unable to fulfill? When young men are serving, hopefully they are discerning a vocation to the priesthood. You may ask why are we so short on priests? B/C more parishes are training girls, and refusing boys! Oh yes, I said it. This very thing happened to my sons. If there are no altar boys, (I don't say servers), it's b/c they refuse to serve with girls.(who can blame them)

  6. It certainly seems like these girls are being used as battering-rams by the liberals to sway the church towards ordained women as priests. I thought we weren't supposed to knowingly use people?

    Roma locuta est,causa finita est!

So why are the liberals using these poor girls like this? Liberals can be like such spoiled children. If my father said "no", it was "NO". I knew enough not to ask again. But in the 60s all authority was challenged, even church authority. Some people haven't left the 60s yet. Man…wake up and smell the incense!

Lord, have mercy on these girls. You know, they wouldn't make half bad traditional nuns. Why are they never steered in that direction?

    Sic transit gloria mundi.
