Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

UK Archbishop Offers Flowers on Altar of Hindu gods

November 24th, 2009, Promulgated by Dr. K

From the UK Telegraph, emphasis added:

“Archbishop Nichols was greeted by the Mandir?s spiritual leader, Yogvivek Swami, ( Head Sadhu, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha ? UK & Europe) and the Trustees of the Mandir. He was welcomed in traditional Hindu style ? with a red vermillion mark applied to the forehead and the tying of a sacred thread on the wrist, symbolising friendship and goodwill.

Yogvivek Swami guided the Archbishop around the Mandir complex, including the sanctum sanctorum where the Archbishop offered flowers at the altar to the deities. He then moved to the deity of Shri Nilkanth Varni (Bhagwan Swaminarayan) where he joined Yogvivek Swami in praying for world peace and harmony.”

Wow… Can we take a step back for a moment and see where this rampant misapplied ecumenism is taking us? Ecumenism, when occurring with non-Christian religions, should be an effort to promote peace among faiths, not to engage in the other faith’s rituals and make offerings to their gods! Just take a look at any one of our Diocese of Rochester bulletins. You’ll see countless invitations to attend interfaith prayer services (over attending the Holy Mass) where there will be Islamic and Hindu prayers. Enough already. We can work towards peace with other faiths, but we do not need to take part in their prayers in their houses of worship. What a horrendous offense to Jesus Christ our Lord.

Whatever happened to making disciples of all nations? Whatever happened to baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit? Can we no longer attempt to convert people because of ecumenism and this growing obsession “religious diversity”? Imagine those who support these arguments having to explain them before God on the day of judgment.

  1. This turns my stomach. Will this turn into another Assisi fiasco like we had in 1987? Pray for all these bishops and the Hindu's too that they convert to the Catholic faith.

Breaking the First and Second Commandments. WOW

  3. truthfinder says:

Who needs to be contacted in the Vatican, and how does one do it? If the report is correct, this is blatant idolatry — ironically, the very thing Protestants accuse us of doing!
