Going along with the November is “Everything English” theme. Here is one of most beautiful Ave Maria’s ever written. This one is by the British Catholic composer Robert Parsons. It is sung in King’s College in Cambridge. Notice that absolute incredible “fan vaulting” around the 1 minute mark. King’s has the largest collection of fan vaulting in the world. One of the glories of the English perpendicular style of architecture, the Chapel of Kings College, Cambridge was completed in 1547, a little over a century after the founding, by Henry VI, of Kings College itself. Each Christmas Eve from this chapel is broadcast the “Nine Lessons and Carols”. The broadcast is aired locally by WXXI-FM (91.5). Enjoy.

Absolutely transcendent!
In a dark room with maybe just a candle lit, with no other noise, having your eyes closed and knowing that you are singing to the Mother of God is a good meditation. Especially if you are familiar with musical word painting.
One of my plans before I jettison out of this world is to make it to Kings College for Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols.
Kings college?
Anon: King's college is part of the University of Cambridge in England. The college is really the King's College of Our Lady and St. Nicholas in Cambridge, but most everybody calls it King's. Hope this helps and I hope you get there one day.
Thanks for your pactience. Maybe I will see you there.
