Traditional Anglican Communion Returning to the Church?

October 19th, 2009, Promulgated by Dr. K

With the continued decline in morality in the Anglican denomination, it made sense that traditional Anglicans would eventually consider jumping ship and swimming home for the Holy Roman Catholic Church. If recent reports out of Rome are true, this process could take a huge step forward tomorrow.

The Catholic News Agency (CNA) is reporting that there will be a press conference tomorrow involving members of the Holy See, as well as leaders of the roughly 500,000 member Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC) who have splintered from the Anglican church over issues such as the ordination of homosexuals and women to their priesthood. Speculation is that this press conference tomorrow will be an announcement that members of the TAC have been received into the Roman Catholic Church. According to the CNA, the TAC has signed a document marking their acknowledgment of and adherence to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

There would be a number of issues to be addressed should reunion begin tomorrow. One major problem is that the Anglican rite of ordination is invalid. All clergy of the TAC would need to pass theological exams and be properly ordained as Roman Catholic clergy. Also, any married bishops would not be allowed to remain bishops in the Catholic Church.

Please pray for the reunion of the TAC with the Catholic Church. Please also pray for our Holy Father, the great unifier, who is working as hard as he can to restore various “traditional” schismatic groups back into good standing with the Church.

  1. I was reading about this on WDTPRS and whatnot…it'd be awesome for a number of reasons…1) It'd be a major success in terms of reunification
    2) this could cause even more high anglicans to return, 3) this could speed up the return of SSPX and such, and 4) most importantly, these folks would have the opportunity to now be in full communion with the Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the State of Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God…Pope…and be members of the one true church. Sweet Deal! Here's prayin'!

All Christians are welcome home anytime. The door is open 24/7, come on in and the Lord will be ready to serve you.

  3. Way to go, Arialdus.

A special thanks should go to Graham Leonard. When he was Anglican bishop of London. He dreaded the secular movement within the Anglican Church. After his retirement he was conditionally ordained a Roman Catholic priest. He held many of the traditional Anglicans together for many years. A very interesting story if you care to read about it.
