Several months ago, Holy Name of Jesus in Greece received a recommendation for closure due to concerns over long-term financial viability. The parish managed to appeal so that they will now have annual reviews of their financial situation to see whether or not they will survive into the future.
The Diocese of Rochester has begun to post the running tally of CMA donations by parish, including information concerning how far along each parish is towards reaching its goal. Talk about an October surprise… Holy Name of Jesus is in first place, by far, with 41.46% of its $35,857 goal met as of October 8th. I think Holy Name be sticking around for the foreseeable future given these surprising results.
St. Thomas the Apostle is also doing fairly well with a little over 19% of its goal met.

Good for them. I love rooting for the underdog.
