Fr. Z informs us that Bishop Joseph F. Martino, the great champion of life and Catholic doctrine, may soon be stepping down as Bishop of Scranton for reasons of poor health. In Christian charity, pray for the health of this fervent defender of the Lord our God and His Catholic Church.
Bishop Martino was a member of my Fave 5 to take over for Bishop Clark in 2012. It would be a true shame if we lost this man.
Again, please pray for his good health and continued years of service.
Update 8.28.09- Fr. Z reports that the Diocese of Scranton will be holding a news conference this Monday. Please continue to pray that this servant of God will be healthy and not announce his retirement.

I will definitely keep this shepherd in my prayers.
Please heal him, O Lord, and lead him to Rochester to fix our mess.
We need more shepherds like this holy and wise man.
