The ridiculous CMA kick-off video was the inspiration for the latest Cleansing Fire poll. We all know how year after year the Diocese presses Rochester Catholics into contributing to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. If a parish does not meet the set amount, the parish will have to make up the difference. Basically, the DoR says how much money it wants, and it gets it from us one way or another. So often we hear upset DoR Catholics say that they will not donate to the CMA. Thus, poll question #9: Will you contribute to the CMA this year? Again, be honest. If you voluntarily donate to the CMA, answer “Yes.” If you know you’ll be able to hold your ground, answer “No.” There of course is a third choice, for those who donate out of fear that their parish will have to pay, and that their parish could be put on some kind of DoR “to-close” list if they don’t reach their quota.
Results from poll #8: How do you receive Holy Communion? – This was a really close poll, and it received the greatest participation to date (51 votes, one more than poll #6’s 50 participants). The result was a tie. I know, not exciting. Voluntary Communion in the hand and Communion on the tongue while standing both received 17 votes. 24 voters receive Communion in the hand, but 7 do so because they do not want to cause waves in their parish environment. Another 9 receive Communion on the tongue while kneeling. Thank you all for voting!

Bishop Clark can take my money from my cold dead hands.
CMA again. Seems like by time it ends, it starts all over again. The Bishop won't get a single penny from me.
Dr. K.,
Although I checked #3 my CMA "donation" will probably take the form of an extra contribution to my parish – as it did last year.
