Defending Truth and Tradition in the Roman Catholic Church

And the Lord said… “Let there be Latin!”

July 18th, 2009, Promulgated by Dr. K

Cpt. Tom, over at his blog the Corning Curmudgeon, informs us of an upcoming mostly-Latin chant Mass in Corning, NY. The Mass featuring Gregorian chant will be offered Sunday, August 2nd at 7:30 AM at St. Mary’s in Corning. The chant will be led by the All Saints Schola, founded by DoR blogger, Cpt. Tom. A second chant Mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s in Belfast on Sunday, August 23rd at 1:30 PM. If you find yourself in the area, or live within the region, be sure to stop by. The Schola has been fighting hard to restore and preserve tradition, so please lend them your support if you are able to attend.

Bless those who are trying to keep our traditions alive.

  2. Good job, Cpt. Tom. The Mass in Belfast is offered by two priests. One is Father Dennis Mancuso of the Buffalo diocese and the other is Father Paul Schnacky, a retired Rochester priest who lives in Hornell. I used to serve Mass for him when he was in Rochester in the early 60s. Father is very quiet and humble and orthodox.

All the best with the schola.

No disrespect intended, just curious. If a family in Rochester desires to try a Latin Mass at St. Stan, should the women wear black and a veil? (We are thinking about it and want to be respectful and correct.

  4. Anon 8:40 – How nice of you to ask. I would wear something modest (nothing low-cut or short skirts) and any color is fine. A veil would be nice, but not necessary. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
