Reminder: Thursday is the Feast of the Ascension (a Holy Day of Obligation)

May 6th, 2013, Promulgated by Ben Anderson

In most parts of the US this feast is moved to Sunday, but that is NOT the case here in New York. Make sure you plan ahead accordingly so you can get to mass.

Ben, Glad you brought this up. Last week I was in a group (a class) of conservative Catholics, and some were confused as to whether or not Thursday was still the Holy Day in Rochester; as it is not in most parts of the country. Some thought that going to Mass on Sunday would cover it. I told them it was still Thursday, just out of memory from other years.

The Novena to the Holy Spirit begins on Holy Thursday and goes through Pentecost.
