Amazing. Not long ago the image of Mary, from the Cathedral, was torpedoed for its modern rendition of the Mother of God. Again it is taste. Everyone has a different view of what moves them. Both are pleasing; however, from two differing styles. To me, they are both a bit old. I bet Mary was a mid teenager at the time of her marriage. Those folks did not live that long a life. Oh well, opinion…

I don’t see the Blessed Virgin in the SHC statue. I’m sorry.

Thanks for presenting these two wonderful images of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. Each one has a dignity and beauty befitting Our Lady. Some may prefer one over the other. This is a matter of opinion. There is room for both images within the tradition of our faith. The Greek roots of the term “Catholic” mean “according to” (kata-) “the whole” (holos), or “universal.” Each expression of the Madonna appeals to different spiritualities but both are centered on her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
